Green Festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 10th-11th, 2010 Saturday – 10am – 7pm Sunday – 11am – 6pm
SF Concourse Exhibition Center 635 8th St (at Brannan St) SF, CA 94103 http://www.greenfestivals.org

About the Green Festival... Back in January 2002 when we marched to demand a Congressional Investigation of 9/11, one person was particularly key to the meeting and the publicity- that was Kevin Danaher of Global Exchange, who came up with the idea of "Demanding an investigation." Kevin has been an ally of the Truth Movement from the very beginning and is one of the few people who does a lot of public speaking, is highly visible, articulate and speaks out on the issue. This is the second time that we have actually had a booth at the Green Festival, it is a wonderful event and a great outreach opportunity for us. I asked Kevin about getting a 9/11 speaker and he said that he would address the issue- so be sure to catch his presentation and make sure he doesn't forget to mention it! Let us combine the Turth, Peace and Justice Movements in an environment where we are welcome! Our booth is #954 (in the East), north of the main stage/auditorium area this year. If you can help with set-up (on Friday), breakdown (on Sunday evening), tabling, please volunteer at the regular meetings, or contact- Carol cbrouillet(at)igc.org.

The Green Festival has some great speakers and you can learn more about it by visiting the website at- http://www.greenfestivals.org

"Think of Green Festival® as a walk through a sustainable community. It begins with finding solutions to help make our lives healthier—socially, economically and environmentally. Individuals along with business and community leaders come together to discuss critical issues that impact us at home and abroad. Organizations and businesses showcase programs and products that restore the planet and all that inhabit it. Neighbor-to-neighbor connections are formed, and skills are shared to empower people to create positive change in the world.
"Join us at the nation’s premier sustainability event, where you will see the best in green. Enjoy more than 125 renowned authors, leaders and educators; great how-to workshops; cutting-edge films; fun activities for kids; organic beer and wine; delicious vegetarian cuisine and diverse live music. Shop in our unique marketplace of more than 350 eco-friendly businesses—everything from all-natural body care products and organic cotton clothing to Fair Trade gifts and beautiful kitchen tiles made from renewable resources.

"See the most recent developments in renewable energy and green technology; sample Fair Trade chocolate and coffee (yes, they really do taste better); and learn how to invest in your community, green your home and avoid products made in sweatshops.

"Recharge your batteries with all the hope, inspiration and practical ideas you’ll find at the one and only Green Festival®.

Green Festival® Facts:

The Money Fix: Local Currency Film Screening and Discussion Sunday, April 25th, 6-9pm Freedom Archives, 522 Valencia St. SF
Join us for an exciting evening of inspiring film and discussion with the director of the Money Fix, Alan Rosenblith, and local currency activists about the problems of the current centralized monetary system and new currency solutions proposed in the Bay Area and beyond. Interest in complementary currencies is exploding as the conventional financial system is becoming increasingly manipulated and controlled by and for the benefit of a few large, multinational corporations. The greater Bay Area is now a hotbed for currency projects rising up to challenge this system. Learn how you can get involved in creating a more equitable and sustainable local economy. This event is sponsored by Bay Area Community Exchange as a fundraiser to send Joaquim Melo from Brazil, founder of the most successful currency project to uplift the poor, to present Banco Palmas at the US Social Forum, as well as Mira Luna, the Director of Bay Area Community Exchange, to present Community Currencies 101.
About the Money Fix: Money is at the intersection of nearly every aspect of modern life. Most of us take the monetary system for granted, but it has a profound and largely misunderstood influence on our lives. The Money Fix is a feature-length documentary exploring our society’s relationship with the almighty dollar. The Money Fix examines economic patterning in both the human and the natural worlds, and through this lens we learn how we can empower ourselves by redesigning the lifeblood of the economy at the community level. The film documents three types of alternative money systems, all of which help solve economic problems for the communities in which they operate. This film will utterly transform the way you perceive money and economics. See the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trl5_BCL0qs
Admission: $2-20 sliding scale donation (no one turned away) For more info. mira@sfbace.org

EPHEMERISLE 2010 DATES OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED - 7/22-25 http://ephemerisle.org
Ephemerisle 2010 will be held noon Thursday July 22 through noon Sunday July 25 (now 33% longer!) at a new location in the Sacramento River Delta. This new location will give us more ability to create the feeling of an archipelago of island nations, and ups the challenge factor slightly by being wider and deeper than last year's site.

Crash Course Chapter 3: Exponential Growth Chapter 4: Compounding Is The Problem are you prepared?
http://chrismartenson.com/crashcourse
If you only watch one chapter, start with chapter 16: fuzzy numbers

"In Germany back in 1923, a man put all the money he had into a wheelbarrow and headed to the store to buy a loaf of bread. But when he got there, the store was closed. He left his wheelbarrow outside the door, figuring he'd come back when the store opened, knowing the money in it wasn't worth enough for anyone to bother stealing. He was right. When he came back, all the money was still there, dumped on the ground, but someone had stolen his wheelbarrow."

Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily. No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

GUN CONTROL WORKS ask the experts: Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao Tse-Tung, Idi Amin, Kim Jong-il, Qaddafi
http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/04/17/18400846.php The 2nd Amendment
Washington didn't use his right to free speech to defeat the British, he shot them.
Most often when a government takes a peoples guns, it then takes their land or their lives.
